Estamos colaborando con Executrain de Puerto Rico para ofrecer una serie de talleres durante el próximo semestre. Estaremos comenzando con el Taller de ITIL Foundation. "ITIL V3 Foundations is suitable for anyone working in IT services requiring more information about the ITIL best practice framework. Or, individuals who are V2 certified and wish to upgrade their knowledge.

This end-to-end view of how IT should be integrated with business strategy is at the heart of ITIL v3’s
five (5) core volumes:

Service Strategy - which looks at overall business aims and expectations to ensure IT strategy maps
back to them

Service Design - which starts with a set of new or changed business requirements and ends with the
development of a solution designed to meet the documented needs of the business

Service Transition - which is concerned with managing change, risk & quality assurance and has an
objective to implement service designs so that service operations can manage the services and
infrastructure in a controlled manner

Service Operation - which is concerned with business as usual activities

Continual Service Improvement - which has an overall view of all other elements and looks for ways that
the overall process and service provision can be improved

ITIL V3 Foundations provides you with a general overview of the IT Service Management Lifecycle and its
supporting processes, functions and roles. The course also enables you to understand how an integrated IT
Service Management framework can be adopted and adapted within your own organization.

ITIL V3 Foundations prepares you for the examination leading to the Foundation Certificate in IT Service
Management. An independent examination body facilitates and marks the examination, which is scheduled on the
last day of the course.

This certification is the prerequisite for the Intermediate and Advanced levels of ITIL certification.

Durante la semana del 5-7 de agosto de 2010 en el Sheraton y el Centro de Convenciones de Puerto Rico, se llevará a cabo el Congreso y Expo CIAPR 2010. Durante el mismo se llevarán a cabo una gran cantidad de talleres y actividades, así como la intervención del Ing. Description: Attendees will take a comprehensive look at data centers in the 21st century. Descripción: El taller cubrirá los aspectos esenciales para automatizar y digitalizar las operaciones de oficinas de ingeniería con el uso de tecnologías libres y de código abierto. Dichas herramientas se encuentran disponibles sin costo y son desarrolladas por equipos internacionales de desarrolladores. Luego del taller, los asistentes tendrán una mejor visión sobre pasos a seguir para tener una oficina "paperless" con presencia en el Internet y con procesos automáticos para el manejo de las funciones de la empresa.

Descripción:

IT service management (ITSM) is a discipline for managing information technology systems and
is centered philosophically on the internal user’s perspective of IT's contribution to the business
and its relationship with external suppliers and customers. ITSM is anchored on servicing the
IT user and stands in marked contrast to technology-centered-and-oriented approaches to the
management of the IT infrastructure in organizations.

The Seminar overviews 50 years of evolution in the character and personality of IT in
organizations and discusses its relation to processes and IT infrastructure management.
Participants are exposed to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and how
this IT best practices framework has transitioned to maintain its world de-facto standard for IT
Service Management. ITIL v2 and ITIL v3 are compared and explained. A real world analogy
presents in simple terms v3’s Service Lifecycle publications.

Attendees will have an in-depth look at global trends in entrepreneurship including an introduction to scalable technology startups (e.g. Facebook, Google, etc) and best practices in launching and growing technology startups. Attendees will get a unique perspective on the lean startup methodology for launching new companies, and learn the best practices for bootstrapping and fundraising in the digital age. The workshop will include the discussion of case studies to illustrate these best practices at work and address common and devastating mistakes new entrepreneurs make when launching a new company. We will also discuss broadly, the strengths and weaknesses of engineers as entrepreneurs and ways to mitiagate those risks when launching a technology-based startup. This workshop is a distillation of what any engineer needs to know about themselves and scalable startups in order to be succesful launching a technology company.

El pasado martes 24 de febrero se llevó a cabo el segundo Podcast del CIAPR - atraves de la emisora 11Q AM - discutiendo el tema de Virtualizacion & Green Data Center. En el programa contó con la hábil participación de nuestro pasado Presidente, el Ing. Javier Rodriguez; así como nuestra representante ante la Comisión de Radial y Televisiva y moderadora del programa, la Ing Zaira O. Vallenilla.

Hoy en el programa radial del CIAPR tuvo como invitado al Ing. Angel L. Perez (Colegiado Distinguido IICOM 2004 y Vicepresidente y Gerente General de Rock Solid Technologies en Puerto Rico). El programa fue moderado por la Ing. Zaira Vallenilla (Directora IICOM) en la cual se discutio el tema: "Detengamos la Fuga de Talento - El Empresarismo Tecnologico como Solucion".
